Exploring the Gwernyfed Project: Beautiful Details in a Historic Home

Set in the rolling Welsh countryside, The Old Gwernyfed Manor is a 17th-century treasure recently restored as a warm, family home. When invited to design the kitchen, our aim was simple: to honour the heritage of the building while embracing modern family living.
The kitchen, handcrafted in Our Florence Collection, strikes the perfect balance — Shaker-inspired cabinetry softened with Georgian bolection moulding. Painted in our neutral Latona 100, the cabinetry reflects the natural light that floods the space, while a honed Cosmos granite worktop adds depth and contrast.
At the centre of the room sits a generous island with subtle under-worktop lighting — a welcoming space for family gatherings, food prep, and morning coffees. But it’s in the thoughtful details where this project truly shines.

One of the highlights is the double-doored larder cupboard. From the outside, it blends seamlessly into the soft white cabinetry, but open the doors and a dramatic stained oak interior is revealed. With handcrafted spice racks, deep drawers, and shelving for jars and preserves, it’s both practical and beautifully finished — a perfect marriage of function and elegance.
Another feature is the countertop cupboard with bi-fold doors. Lined with a stained oak interior and softly lit with integrated LEDs, it provides a discreet home for morning essentials like the toaster and kettle, alongside elegant glassware.

The Gwernyfed Project is a celebration of detail — from stained oak interiors to Georgian-inspired cabinetry — each feature designed to complement the historic setting while offering the convenience of modern living. The result is a kitchen that feels timeless, grounded, and truly at home within this historic manor. Head over to Our Projects Page and dive into this kitchen design further.
