Chestnuts Kitchen
A modern walnut kitchen, in our Milan collection with a bold and bright utility and boot room crafted in our modern Shaker collection, Sorrento.
From farmhouse to contemporary home
The property was originally bought as a traditional farmhouse, but they had a very different plan for it in mind. They made the bold decision to knock it down and start again, building a modern home with a sleek interior and exterior to match. A neutral palette runs through the whole house to keep it cohesive and every room was designed to sit within the architecture.
One of the most important rooms to the clients was the modern kitchen, crafted in our Milan collection. It was always going to be where family and friends would gather and the clients wanted it to make an impression from the moment you walked in. A walnut island with a granite worktop takes pride of place in the room, with a luxurious waterfall edge down one side to add warmth to the clean lines around it. Large sliding doors fill the room with natural light and the mirrored splash back reflects the light, so the kitchen feels bright and open from every angle.

A pop of colour
With the entire home being sleek and neutral, the client wanted one element of colour the give the house some extra personality, this was done by choosing a pink side door that opens into the utility room. That shade was colour matched to the inside of the utility cupboards, so the same colour greets you as you come in and again when you open the doors, lit with our LED strip lighting to brighten the space even more. Sorrento, our modern Shaker collection was used to craft the space.
From the front, the utility is understated, with tall cupboards in a rich deep purple, and slim bronze handles. Inside, the pink frames oak shelving, coat hooks and a bench seat with deep drawers below, while a reeded glass wall unit and a grey tiled floor finish the room the appliances fit comfortably within the space. Against the walnut and granite of the kitchen, it's a confident change of mood that gives the house its personality without disturbing the restrained look it was designed around. If you are looking to create a bold and vibrant or calm and neutral space then get in touch with us and we can help you create that for you kitchen project.
