Quaint farmhouse charm

The Broad Oak Kitchen is nestled within a charming 200-year-old farmhouse. This quaint country kitchen was thoughtfully handcrafted to make the most of the available space while preserving the original historical features that infuse the home with character and charm. Our clients were deeply passionate about maintaining these elements, ensuring that the new design would seamlessly blend with the farmhouse's rich heritage.

For this project, our Bologna collection proved to be the perfect choice. The collection's hallmark pencil beading outlining the doors and drawers adds a touch of refinement and elegance to the traditional shaker style, which our clients adored. This delicate detail enhances the classic look of the kitchen, bridging the gap between traditional design and contemporary functionality. The Bologna collection's timeless appeal ensures that the kitchen will remain stylish and relevant for years.

A timesless design

The exposed oak beams are impossible to ignore. They carry the history of the house with them, and rather than working around them, the entire design was built to honour them. Oak was chosen as the primary material for the kitchen carcass, a decision that felt less like a design choice and more like the only logical response to the room itself. That commitment to oak runs throughout the space in quieter ways too. The open shelving was crafted from the same wood, giving the kitchen a consistency that feels considered. Oak drawer inserts bring the same warmth to the interior of the cabinetry, ensuring that the quality of the making is present even where it does not always need to be seen.

The tall detailed Shaker style larder units positioned in the walkway are among the most practical features of the Broad Oak Kitchen. Generous in capacity and thoughtfully placed, they absorb a great deal of storage without encroaching on the openness of the room. The colour palette was chosen to sit quietly alongside the oak rather than compete with it. Soft, muted tones reflect the countryside beyond the windows and give the kitchen a calm, settled quality that suits the character of the farmhouse. Taken together, every element of the Broad Oak Kitchen tells the same story. A space that respects where it has come from while meeting the needs of the people living in it today.
