A kitchen full of calm

The Staunton kitchen sits within a Grade II listed building, recognised for its historical and sociological significance, so bringing old and new together was always going to be the heart of the design. The cabinetry was painted in ‘Tellus 300’ a dark green from our extensive paint palette which gives it real presence, and it works beautifully with the lush gardens that can be seen through the glazing, bringing the outside in and tying everything together and creating a calming and tranquil space.

The space was designed for socialising, with plenty of room for family and friends to gather and the client's love of reclamation yards runs through the room, with found pieces given a new life as decor, including on the mantle. It is a kitchen with character, shaped as much by the client as by the cabinetry.

Designed for living

The copper island is the workhorse of the room, creating a natural gathering point for cooking, prepping, chatting and everything else in between. The warm tone of the worktop lifts the darker cabinetry, catching the light which adds a modern touch to the room without losing the traditional feel of the home.

Daily life has been considered throughout the whole kitchen, with a dog bed built into the cabinetry, a pantry dedicated to the clients love of baking and a whole hot and cold drinks station. These details show how throughly the kitchen was designed around the people that live in it and use the space everyday.
