Pretty in pink

The Wellington Heath Kitchen was handcrafted for a characterful rural cottage in the Herefordshire countryside, designed around the way our clients actually wanted to live. They came to us with a clear sense of what they were after, a kitchen that felt warm and welcoming, somewhere the family could gather, cook together, and spend time without it ever feeling too formal.

The cabinetry was painted in 'Venus 310' our dusky pink that manages to feel both bold and gentle at the same time. It gives the kitchen a personality that is hard not to smile at, warm and inviting without being overwhelming. Aged brass handles were chosen to sit alongside it, their tone complementing the pink beautifully and adding a vintage feel that suits the cottage setting perfectly. A Quartz worktop and splash back were selected to tie the whole scheme together, their softer tones allowing the cabinetry to remain the focal point while giving the room a sense of cohesion.

Where the magic hides

Behind the Shaker cabinetry doors, the kitchen is as well considered as it looks from the outside. A freestanding larder with double doors, generous shelving, and two integrated spice racks keeps everything organised and within easy reach. A peg drawer was also incorporated to give pots and pans a proper home. Every storage solution was designed around how this family actually uses their kitchen, and it shows.

The feature that truly captured our clients' hearts was one suggested by our designers during the planning process. Hidden within the pink cabinetry is a small secret door, a Narnia-like passage that connects the kitchen directly to the playroom. It is a magical touch, the sort of thing that turns a beautiful kitchen into something the whole family remembers. The children move freely between the two spaces, and the little door has become a world of its own, a place where imagination takes over. It was one of those ideas that felt right the moment it was suggested, and seeing the children's reaction when they discovered it for the first time made it one of the most rewarding moments of the entire project.

The Wellington Heath Kitchen is a space that works on every level. Practical enough for the demands of a busy family, beautiful enough to stop people in their tracks, and full of the kind of personal touches that make a house feel like a home.
