Quietly reinvented

The Wood House Kitchen sits within a beautiful first floor space and was designed with a clear intention to respect what had been there before while bringing something fresher and more enduring in its place. Our clients had been fond of their previous kitchen, and rightly so, but years of use had taken their toll and the time felt right for something new. They wanted to keep the spirit of the room intact while giving it a quality and finish that would last.

They were drawn to our hybrid style Sorrento collection from early on, and it is easy to understand why. The design is rooted in the Shaker tradition but stripped back to its most considered form. Without the need for a cabinetry framework, the result is a clean and uncluttered look that feels modern while still carrying a warmth and familiarity that suits a home like this. For a space that sits somewhere between the classic and the contemporary, it was exactly the right fit.

A hybrid design

Rather than fitting an island, our clients chose to keep the room open, holding onto their original dining table instead. It was the right call. The table brings a familiarity and warmth to the space that no new piece could replicate, and it keeps the kitchen feeling relaxed and easy to move through. The Sorrento collection cabinetry was painted in 'Luna 110', a soft off-white that works with the natural light to give the room a brightness throughout the day. Together with the terrace which the kitchen opens onto, the whole space has an airy quality that makes it genuinely pleasant to spend time in, whether that is over a slow breakfast or an evening meal outside.

A deep green cooker was chosen to introduce a note of colour into the otherwise calm palette, and it earns its place as the natural focal point of the room. To carry that green gently into the adjoining living space, we designed a freestanding dresser painted in 'Silvanus 230', a muted complementary green finished with a warm oak worktop. It connects the two rooms, adding texture and a sense of coherence that runs through the whole interior. The oak worktop introduces a natural warmth that softens the painted finish and ties back to the wider material palette of the home.

The Wood House Kitchen is a space that does not try too hard, and that is its strength. Every decision was made with care, restraint was chosen over excess at every turn, and the result is a kitchen that feels complete. It is the kind of room that improves with familiarity, one that reveals its thoughtfulness gradually and rewards the people who live in it every single day.

What our clients say

"Excellent quality of cabinetry, good help with the design process, and very good fitting and installation. We're very happy with our Minerva kitchen - but remember that in most cases you will need a good builder as well...."
